Hey Hecky! Just saw this now. Wow, thanks for the shout out!

My batchmate in UP, Levi Suministrado is now the front man of this small group doing Parkour and skateboarding there in Lucena. He’s been doing this since around 2009 I guess. Pretty cool huh? It’s nice to know that Lucena is really getting ahead of cities in terms of organized extreme sports. I haven’t seen Parkour anywhere else yet but here.

To you man and to the rest of Parkour Lucena peeps, more power!

Parkour Lucena in cooperation with BJMP 4A and Jail National Training Institute (JNTI), conducted a parkour demonstration and introduction for more or less 350 graduating recruits of the JNTI in Camp Vicente Lim, Canlubang, Calamba, Laguna.

Bits and flashes of Parkour Lucena’s 2011.

In this video we share with everyone our love for movement, fun moments, and friendship all around. Enjoy! :

Parkour in the Philippines? (A poorly made news bit by TV patrol)

This video shows a news bit shown today (July 17,2011) at TV Patrol featuring “Parkour” in the Philippines. They showed some snippets from my videos and it’s good that parkour in the PH is beginning to be in the limelight. But, as a practitioner, I would prefer it be shown the proper way.

Parkour as a sport and a discipline is fairly young in the Philippines, so it’s understandable that our media or the Philippine society for that matter is not yet informed and educated of what it is all about.

I will enumerate some points or keywords told by the news bit shown to its thousands of viewers that I would like to contest or more appropriately, correct:

June 8, 2011 - Parkour Lucena was invited by the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology Region IV-A, Philippines to help conduct a parkour orientation.

We were more than willing to share what we know about this beautiful art/discipline that is parkour. We were quite surprised that the director of BJMP IV-A himself knew about the history and roots of parkour. He was the one who discussed the history of parkour to the participants. From Hebert to Belle, as well parkour as never been really invented by someone at all, he discussed. This implied that they really have taken an active interest in utilizing parkour in their profession.

It was a very fulfilling day for us even it was raining that day. We were happy that we shared what we know to them. It is also a positive thing that they do not see us traceurs as delinquents. In fact, they know that training parkour really needs focus and discipline.

We hope that law enforcement personnel everywhere could know the potential of parkour in their profession. :D

Zombie

Exploding dull headaches
Echoes of graying memories
I savoured, I shunned
Pondering, will i again?

Time cares for nobody
It fades to darkness
My words are caged and trapped
Only thoughts afloat

I am a zombie
In this world of life
Glassy eyed, walking blindly
Living back and forth time

Parkourin’

Let’s go be free
Be running, maybe rolling
Climbing, jumping, and some swinging
Silent and fast; over and out.

So why be stopping?
Maybe for some resting
Yes, it’s a good feeling
We’re free, we’re moving

The ground’s my friend
I hug walls while smiling
Gripping rails, concentrating
The wind on my face’s wind-ing

We aren’t stopping
Tis just a bit of resting
Smile, it’s a good feeling
Yes, we’re free, we’re moving.
